More About Pearl
Pearls are the birthstone for the month of June and is also recommended for the 3rd and 30th wedding anniversary. They are the most unique of all gemstones as they are the only one formed inside a living creature. They are also considered the most "feminine" of all the gemstones.

Natural pearls are rare and not easy to obtain from the ocean's depth and so the technique of culturing pearls was invented by man. Cultured pearls are available in an variety of lovely colors from champagne to pink, lavender, black, grey. They also come in an assortment of shapes and sizes. The price of pearls vary as a result of luster, size, how they were grown, color and type. Natural pearls are the most expensive, followed by cultured pearls. Fresh water pearls tend to be inexpensive.

To care for a pearl it is important to avoid heat and all chemicals, including perfume and other cosmetics as they are sensitive and can crack if they come into contact with such chemicals. They should be stored in a cloth bag or their own box away from contact with other materials, and should never be placed in an ultrasonic or steam cleaner.
